Melody Mondays - Robyn is Indestructible x2

This seemed like a nice way to transition from the more serene winter days to Spring break woo hoo!  As in the break into springtime.  I’m too old for the other stuff.

Here are two versions of Robyn’s “Indestructible.”  The first is an acoustic which is heavy on the strings and the second is a remix by Laidback Luke that’s heavy on the electro-synthesizer-drum-whatever you call it.

With Britney Spears (quite successfully) introducing mainstream America to dubstep, it might be safe to say that electronic dance music is now closer to the norm than the exception.  EDM even gets Top 40 radio (referencing that archaic medium that sends audio signals from broadcast towers over relatively low frequency electromagnetic waves) play these days.  If you’re around me while my friends are blasting their EDM, you’ll often hear me complain tirelessly about the 1-2min “buildup of the beat.”  What can I say, I like melodies.  Thankfully, the Indestructible remix only has a 30 second buildup, so you know where to jump to if you’re buildup-averse.

I like how the remix brings a different perspective to the song.  The acoustic is intimate and honest, as if the “protagonist” is uncertain but wants to jump into something new.  Meanwhile, the remix feels like a proclamation/declaration of how things will be and she’ll lead the way.
