Melody Mondays - Cruising on the East Coast with Tennis
Cape Dory by Tennis (5612 KB)

So many images fill my head when I listen to Tennis, and especially “Cape Dory.” Knee length skirts, a live band, someone having way too much fun on the symbols, and driving through the New England summer in a 60s convertible with a passenger wearing these. Sometimes Tennis definitely overuses filler sounds like “sha la la” and “whoah-ohh,” but there isn’t another band out there that can fill the niche they’ve carved out. It’s 60s, it’s lo-fi, it’s very East Coast, but also very island-y.
By the by, that’s a picture of JFK and Jackie O [credit: Wikipedia] that I couldn’t be more glad to use instead of the Tennis cover. You’ll see what I mean if you visit http://www.facebook.com/tennisinc.
