Melody Mondays - Smiles for all Californians

A part of me wants to require all Southern Californians listen to The Smiles album at least once. Very few bands/songs are really able to convey the “SoCal” aura—however imagined it is. If you like Vampire Weekend, but want less prep, and more beaches, you’ll like The Smiles. I have room in my heart for both. Although their first EP is titled “Hermosa” I would have to say they sound much more OC than LA (counties). Whenever I think of LA these days, I don’t think of the relaxed carefree beach town of yesteryear, I think of traffic and traffic alone.
